We were given an assignment where we had to desrcibe what love is to us and I had no idea. I was just staring at the words "Love is" on my computer screen trying to figure out something poetic to say or even anything to say and I couldn't really think of anything. I haven't experience love, well the romantic kind, I mean odviously I've felt love from my family but I'm only 16. Reading my classmates responses, it seems like they are writing about romantic love and I just don't know how they know those things. Are they getting these things from movies and love songs or have they actually been in love? Because I know I haven't and I wonder how people so young can feel such a mature feelings but I guess you don't have to be a certain age to feel. Who can tell you how old you have to feel like your in love? I think love is weird.......

Here at GCI we have a talent night every once and a while called Coffee House. It's usually to raise money for our school or some kind of charity but this time it was to raise money for my three friends to travel to Kenya this summer! They are working with the Me to We foundation and if you want to learn more you can visit this website >> http://www.metowe.com/volunteer-travel/youth-trips/kenya/
It was great to see all the talent that GCI has to offer and you can tell some of the performers are going to go far with their music abilities! Not only was this coffee house special for me because it was helping my friends travel across the world, but I also performed! This was my first time performing infront of anyone other than my friends. My friends Andrew, Luc and I only had a few practicing before our performance and I was so nervous. I thought I was going to back out at the last minute but my friends told me it was not an option. They pushed me to perform because they knew I could do it and I'm glad they did. People I don't even talk to came up to me and told me I did very well. Now that I performed once I know I can do it again and I'm going to sing in another upcoming talent night called Under The Stars!  I'm excited to see if my voice is good enough to take me places.

For bookclub I chose to read The Glass Castle. I chose it because the description sounded intriguing and then first two pages got me hooked. After reading twenty pages this book seems very interesting and the family seems a little crazy.
The first chapter is about this women (the main character) who sees her mom digging through a dumpster and feels guilty that she lives on Park Ave in New York while her mom is homeless. She contacts her mom insisting she helps her but her mom refusing and says she likes living this way.
The second chapter so far is a flashback to the main characters past ( I still don't know what her name is ). She was three years old, living in a trailer park, making her own hotdogs on the stove when her dress catches on fire. Her mom rushes her to the hospital but when her dad finds out he is not happy. He doesn't like hospitals so after a while he just steals his daughter from the hospital. In the middle of the night one night the dad says they have to leave right now so they pack up their things and hit the road. The main character claims this happens all the time because the bill collectors are on her dads case.
Thats all I've read so far and I like the book. I just hope it's as eventfull all the way till the end as it is at the beginning.

Yesterday I passed my G1 test! After we got there to take the test I forgot my student card and they needed it for identification. So we had to drive home and I had been studying all day to take the test so I just wanted to do it to get it over with. My mom and I drove all the way to Kitchener, back to my house, then back to Kitchener all in an hour. I almost didn't have enough time to take the test and the lady asked me if I even wanted to take it because I only had twenty minutes. But I didn't do all that driving to not take the test. So I wrote it and PASSED! I was so nervous when I was writing the test but it was a huge relief when the lady gave it back to me and it only had two mistakes! I was pretty proud of myself because there were people in grade 11 and 12 and even adults that didn't pass when I was writing mine!

I know that picture is horrible but i only had a second to look at my mom so I wouldn't crash! haha

When I'm trying to plan something I always have to write it down or tell someone so I thought this would be the perfect place to pla it out and rant at the same time.
My birthday is coming up in thirteen days and since my birthday is on a monday I will be celebrating with my family next weekend. On thursday the 18th is the semi-formal dance and me and my bestfriends are going to go to that together then have a sleepover to celebrate my birthday. Then I have to wake up early on friday to go to my dads because my grandpa is coming down from North Bay. Usually that would be no big deal but I'll be so tired from staying at my friends house I probably won't wanna go. On saturday I have to wake up early again to spend the day in Toronto because my moms bestfriend is visiting from Thunder Bay. Then I have "Sunday Dinner" with my family as always but to celebrate my birthday and on Monday I'm taking my G1 test.
My birthday weekends are usually busy because I have so much family but It's never been so much travelling. I am excited to see everyone but it will be very busy and tiring. But hey, there are much worse t

I feel so stuck in my life. I do the same routine when I wake up in the morning, same bus route everyday, I see the same things and faces every single day. I can't get a job because most places don't take 15 year olds, I can't drive myself anywhere and I just feel so bored with my life. I want to do something different... go on a trip, see other things than the same people and same classroom and same everything! I want something exciting to happen!!!

That was really negative but I am having a negative day so.....

This ted talk was presented by Jennifer Pahika and it was about creating government apps to bring communities together and getting citizens more involved in government rather then giving up on it.
I liked how she said we need to be more involved with the government and not give up on it because a lot of people complain about the government but don't do anything about it.

This March break my mom threw a baby shower for her best friend, Andrea. Everybody was very happy for her and she seemed excited for her baby but very tired. While Andrea was opening her gifts my aunt, Sue, told me a story. The story was one night when my aunt was in grade 1 or 2 she had to go to the bathroom and in the house they lived in, the hallway to get to the bathroom was perpendicular to a hallway to get to the kitchen. When she was passing the
hallway leading to the kitchen she looked down it and saw something that ran behind the fridge. It was short and moved very quickly so she thought it was an elf! She ran back into her room that she shared with my mom and said “I just saw
an elf in the kitchen!”. Of course my mom didn’t believe her and told her to go back to bed but my aunt was certain there was an elf behind their fridge. When I heard this story I thought it was hysterical, it brought tears to my eyes and I
have never cried from laughing before. As I was wiggling in my seat, bouncing the whole couch full of people, I was laughing so hard my laugh turned into the one that you can’t hear and your left sitting clapping with your mouth wide open looking like an idiot. Just imagine someone came running into your room in the middle of the night saying “I just saw an elf!!”. It always feels great to have a good laugh.

I overheard a conversation in the hallway this morning and it made me think. The conversation went something like this... "Oh my god, Gretel is so annoiying lately, like, I honestly can't even stand her sometimes." "Urg I know she is so obnoxious." ---side note, that name was made up.-- Now the back story is these three girls are "best friends" and that is what they all think, including Gretel. So if they are best friends, it would make sense to me if those girls went up to Gretel and talked to her about the problem and tried to solved it instead of talking behind Gretels back because with my best friends, I can talk to them about anything. I know every highschool girl talks about people behind their backs but not your best friend. So this made me think... if they are so annoyed by Gretel, why don't they just leave the friendship? I mean your supposed to surround yourself with people who make you happy, right?

The theme of our Halrem shake is GCI. We are doing this harlem shake or fun but also to showcase our school. The props I am wearing are items that represent GCI. I wear a red and blue scarf and a blue shirt.
The experience with the Harlem Shake was great. It was so much fun and I think it taught us how to work together. It also taught leadership skills by planning it all out and get everyone to cooperate.
